Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Southern Premier Health accepts most major health insurance plans. We encourage all patients to contact their insurance provider directly to confirm coverage and benefits prior to your visit.

Please note that patients are responsible for any costs not covered by insurance if a claim is denied. Be sure to bring your current insurance card to each appointment.

If your insurance information changes, please notify our front desk as soon as possible so we can keep your medical records up to date and ensure accurate billing.

  • The frequency of lung evaluations depends on your health history and any existing respiratory conditions. For most patients, a yearly visit with a pulmonologist is recommended to monitor lung function and address any new or ongoing symptoms. If you have a chronic condition such as asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, or pulmonary hypertension, your provider may recommend more frequent check-ups to help manage your condition effectively.

You should schedule an appointment sooner if you experience new or worsening symptoms—such as persistent cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, or chest discomfort—rather than waiting for your next routine visit.

  • You should consider seeing a pulmonologist if you experience ongoing or unexplained breathing problems, chronic cough, or other symptoms that don’t improve with routine care. Common reasons to schedule a visit include:

    • Persistent shortness of breath or wheezing

    • Chronic or recurring cough

    • Frequent respiratory infections or pneumonia

    • Abnormal chest X-rays or CT scans

    • Difficulty exercising due to breathing issues

    • A history of smoking or long-term exposure to environmental irritants

    • Management of known lung conditions such as asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, or pulmonary hypertension

If you notice changes in your breathing or lung health, it’s best not to wait—early evaluation and diagnosis can lead to more effective treatment and better long-term outcomes.
